New Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs)

At Normagrup, we have recently achieved Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) for six of our most representative luminaire ranges: Arque and Via R from Normalux, and Linnea, Luzerna Avant, Zenith and ELEMENT from Normalit. With these certifications, we take a decisive step forward in our strategy of transparency and environmental improvement, providing specifiers and industry professionals with verified data on the real environmental impact of our lighting solutions.
Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) are independently verified documents that detail, using standardised metrics, the environmental impact of a product throughout its entire life cycle. To develop them, we carried out comprehensive Life Cycle Assessments (LCAs) evaluating aspects such as material use, greenhouse gas emissions, energy consumption, water and air pollution, and end-of-life management.
These EPDs have been developed in accordance with EN ISO 14025, EN ISO 14040 and EN 15804 standards, as well as the PCR rules of the PEP Ecopassport programme, ensuring the reliability and comparability of the information provided.
Electricity consumption represents a significant share of operational carbon in buildings, making EPDs a crucial factor in the decarbonisation of the built environment. Through these declarations, we help professionals compare alternatives and select more sustainable solutions, contributing to the reduction of emissions associated with the construction sector and supporting compliance with environmental certifications such as LEED, BREEAM and VERDE.
In this way, we also anticipate future national regulations arising from the transposition of the new EPBD (Energy Performance of Buildings Directive), whose objective is to move towards the decarbonisation of the European building stock by 2050 and achieve climate-neutral buildings.
At Normagrup, we believe that innovation is built on knowledge. With the achievement of these certifications, we continue progressing towards a fully environmentally assessed catalogue, with all the associated advantages and performance.
